Danny Jansen becomes the first man in history to play for BOTH teams in an MLB game... and here's how he did it

Former Toronto Blue Jays and current Boston Red Sox catcher Danny Jansen has become the first man to play for two teams in the same game - and he did it all in a single inning. In a statistical oddity made possible by two of the quirkiest entities on Earth - the baseball rule book and the New England weather - Jansen became the only player ever to appear on both sides of a baseball box score when he took the field for Boston on Monday in the resumption of a rain-delayed game he started for Toronto in June, before he was traded to the Red Sox. 'I was surprised when I found out I was the first one to do it,' Jansen said after going 1 for 4 for Boston - plus part of another at-bat for Toronto - in the Blue Jays' 4-1 victory. 'It's cool, leaving a stamp like that on the game. It's interesting, and it's strange. And I'm grateful for the opportunity to have that.'
MLB history in the making! Red Sox catcher Danny Jansen can become the FIRST player to start a game for one team and finish with another Monday

Major League Baseball trades have the capacity to challenge the imaginations of even the most devoted fans. For instance, outfielder Joel Youngblood played for two different teams in two different cities on August 4, 1982 thanks to a midday trade and a quick flight from Chicago to Philadelphia. Two decades earlier, journeyman catcher Harry Chiti was technically traded for himself. And on Monday, Boston Red Sox backstop Danny Jansen could become the first player in MLB history to play for both teams in the same game.
Anthony Volpe of the Yankees goes deep before DJ LeMahieu beat the Blue Jays on a walk-off single

On Saturday, DJ 'LeMachieu' LeMahieu had the walk-off hit for the Yankees, but it was rookie shortstop Anthony Volpe who stole the show in the Bronx as New York pulled out a 3-2 victory over the Toronto Blue Jays. Volpe (Italian for 'fox') hit a two-run homer in the eighth off the board of Yimi Garca, his second of his young career, but Danny Jansen of the Jays hit a two-run home run against Wandy Perfo, tying the game.
