Aaron Taylor-Johnson , Jodie Comer and Ralph Fiennes have been revealed among the cast in a 28 Days Later sequel, according to Deadline . Two years after two fans sued Universal Pictures for using actress Ana de Armas in a trailer for the 2019 movie Yesterday and cutting her from the film, the case has been officially settled. Peter Rosza and Conor Woulfe sued Universal Pictures in 2022, claiming they had spent $3.99 to rent Yesterday after seeing the 35-year-old actress in a trailer. Despite appearing in the trailer, her role was cut entirely from the film, leading Rosza and Woulfe to sue the studio for $5 million for false advertising.

Just months after Sony set up a new 28 Years Later film trilogy , the director of the second film has been found: Nia DeCosta. It was reported back in January that Sony was teaming up with original 28 Days Later director Danny Boyle and writer Alex Garland for a new trilogy set 28 years after the original 2003 classic, which helped revitalize the stagnant zombie genre. Boyle was set to direct from a Garland screenplay for the first film, with both the director and writer set to serve as producers of the next two sequels.
