Damian William Jones (born June 30, 1995) is an American professional basketball player for the Atlanta Hawks of the National Basketball Association (NBA).

He played college basketball for the Vanderbilt Commodores.

Jones was selected in the first round of the 2016 NBA draft by the Golden State Warriors with the 30th overall pick.

He is a two-time NBA champion, having won both with Golden State in 2017 and 2018.

High school career

Jones, a senior at Scotlandville Magnet High School in Baton Rouge, Louisiana, where he averaged 15.4 points, 8.0 rebounds, 4.0 blocks, and 2.0 assists. He was rated by Rivals.com as a four-star recruit and committed to Vanderbilt University.

College career

Jones averaged 13.3 points, 6.4 rebounds, 1.69 blocks, and 27.2 minutes in 99 games, earning first-team All-SEC honors as both a sophomore and junior in three seasons. Jones earned 56.6 percent from the track during his undergraduate career, the third highest mark in Vanderbilt history, while finishing second on the school's all-time block list (167). Jones averaged 13.9 points, 6.9 rebounds, and 1.64 blocks in 33 games as a junior in 2015-2016, aiding Vanderbilt to their first NCAA Tournament appearance since 2011–12.

Jones opted for the NBA draft on April 14, 2016, forgoing his final year of college eligibility.

Professional career

Jones suffered from a torn pectoral muscle in his right arm while working out with the Orlando Magic in the lead-up to the draft, requiring surgery. Despite this, Jones was chosen by the Golden State Warriors with the 30th overall pick in the 2016 NBA draft. On July 13, he signed with the Warriors and made his NBA debut against the Memphis Grizzlies on December 10. Jones scored his first NBA points in the Warriors' first game against the Charlotte Hornets on February 1, 2017. During the 2016-2017 season, he appeared in ten regular-season games and four playoff games. After beating the Cleveland Cavaliers 4–1 in the NBA Finals, the Warriors were named champions in 2017. Jones appeared in 15 regular-season games and four playoff games as the Warriors returned to the NBA Finals, where they captured their second straight championship. He served with the Santa Cruz Warriors, Golden State's G League affiliate, in his first two seasons.

Jones was the Warriors' starting center in 2018-19, and he made his debut in 22 of the Warriors' first 24 games. In a 111-102 loss to the Detroit Pistons on December 1, 2018, he suffered a torn left pectoral muscle. After recovering the muscle, he was initially ruled out for the season. He was back in action in the Western Conference Finals for the second time. The Warriors advanced to the 2019 NBA Finals, where they lost in six games to the Toronto Raptors.

Jones, along with a 2026 second-round pick, were traded to the Atlanta Hawks in exchange for Omari Spellman on July 8, 2019.

Jones agreed to a two-year contract with the Phoenix Suns on November 30, 2020. He averaged 1.6 points and 1.3 rebounds per game in 14 games. Jones was waived by the Suns on February 23, 2021.

Jones signed a 10-day deal with the Los Angeles Lakers on February 26, 2021. The Lakers signed him to his second 10-day deal on March 11.

Jones signed a 10-day deal with the Sacramento Kings on April 7, 2021, and ten days later, he signed a second one. After playing in six games, including two starts, on April 28, he signed a multi-year contract with the Kings.

Jones signed with the Los Angeles Lakers on July 1, 2022.
