Last week, Connor Montgomery and his girlfriend Alex Held were on a swanky £3,500 holiday in Cancun, Mexico. On June 15, the Newcastle couple embarked on a boat tour and discovered their room had been tampered with when they returned to the Grand Sirenis Riviera Maya Resort & Spa. Mr Montgomery claims the room's lights and air conditioning had been turned off, but the electricity key card had been missing, as well as his gold watch and cash which had been stolen from their safe. Mr Montgomery says he noticed that the safe in their room's cupboard had been drilled into and that his possessions had been confiscated. However, the hotel informed him that the holes had already been present before. Other people have since contacted the 26-year-old from Newcastle to post similar stories on social media, according to him.
