Hundreds of mourners have descended on the church for the funeral (pictured left, top, and bottom right) of one of the last 'Pilots of the Caribbean' who served in the Second World War. Flight Sergeant Peter Brown (inset) who flew Lancaster Bombers during WW2, died alone in Maida Vale, west London, in December last year. The 'humble and cheery' RAF veteran died without a single family, prompting an appeal to locate his relatives. Flt Sgt Brown's send-off at St Clement Danes Church, the central church of the RAF, was packed with 600 mourners after the appeal went viral. In March, he was supposed to have a funeral at a smaller chapel in Mortlake, south-west London, but Westminster Council's appeal saw them flooded with people wanting to give him a "befitting to his dignity." Relative Brooke Alexander, one of the Jamaican capital Kingston, had travelled more than 4,000 miles to attend.

Pc Adnan Ali instead used the award-winning unit as a 'groom playground,' in the most graphic example of a police officer exploiting his misguided sexual urges, according to a judge. Since being found guilty of five counts of sexual assault against teenage cadets and 15 counts of misconduct in a public office because of his sexualized messages, the shamed 36-year-old was facing a lengthy prison term and the forfeiture of his police pension. Following Ali's arrest, Greater Manchester Police chiefs released a grovelling apology for what Ali's trial was told was "inadequate oversight" by senior officers, which helped him get away with his predatory behavior. Ali's offences are 'abhorrent,' according to Assistant Chief Constable Colin McFarlane, who admitted that 'not enough was done' to'supervise and monitor him.' Mr McFarlane told MailOnline that he was "very aware" that this was happening in the case of other cases involving police officers.'
