Cliff Martinez Life

Cliff Martinez (born February 5, 1954) is an American singer and composer.

Martinez, who was best known as a drummer with the Red Hot Chili Peppers and Captain Beefheart, began early in his career.

Since the 1990s, he has mainly worked as a film score composer, writing music for Spring Breakers, The Foreigner, and several Steven Soderbergh films (Sex, Lies, and Videotape, Contagion, and Traffic). Nicolas Winding Refn (Drive, Only God Forgives) and The Neon Demon.

Martinez was inducted into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame as a member of the Red Hot Chili Peppers on April 14, 2012.

Early life

Martinez was born in Bronx, New York. His grandfather moved from a small village in Spain to the United States. He was born in Columbus, Ohio, and his first job as a composer was for the popular television show Pee Wee's Playhouse. Nevertheless, at the time, he was more interested in rock bands and performed drums in a variety of them, but mostly in a temporary capacity.
