As the weapon is reported to have been used by the gunman in Lewiston, Maine, who killed at least 22 people and injured dozens more on Tuesday night, there are revived calls for AR-15 rifles to be outlawed in the United States. The weapons have been used in massacres around the country, including one that killed ten people at a supermarket in Buffalo and another in Uvalde, Texas, where 19 children and two teachers were shot to death.
