Christopher Reid (born April 5, 1964), also known as Kid (shortened from his original MC name, Kid Coolout), is an American actor, comedian, and former rapper.
Reid was known for his exaggerated hi-top fade haircut during his time with the rap group Kid 'n Play (with Christopher Martin).
Life and career
Reid was born in The Bronx, New York, to a Jamaican father (1928–1939) and an Irish mother (1930–1973). In 1982, he graduated from Bronx High School of Science. He graduated in 1990 from Lehman College in the Bronx after attending Miles College.
He is best known as one half of the late-1980s/early 1990s hip hop musical group Kid 'n Play, alongside fellow rapper/actor Christopher "Play" Martin. Reid was best known for his extreme hi-top fade hairstyle. Reid has appeared on a variety of television shows, including Martin and Sisters, Sisterhood, and has appeared on several television shows, including Your Big Break and It's Showtime at the Apollo. Reid is known as a stand-up comedian on tour.
Reid's most recent musical contribution has been writing the theme song for HBO's Real Time with Bill Maher. In 2008, he appeared on the VH1 reality magician game show Celebracadabra. He released a music video for a song named "Why Don't You Stay," in which he raps and sings on the track. He appeared in War of the Worlds 2: The Next Wave, an Asylum sequel to H.G. War of the Worlds: Wells.
