In the ensuing six months, a Ukrainian sniper team named The Ghosts of Bakhmut has killed 524 Russian troops. In that period, the unit's commander, who has no apparent call sign is Ghost, had accounted for 76 enemy troops. The figures attributed to the Ghosts, in particular their commander, are compared to some of the world's most prolific snipers. Chris Kyle, a US Navy Seal from Iraq, was credited with more than 160 deaths in four tours. Adelbert Waldron, a US airborne sniper, killed 109 in eight months in Vietnam. A Finnish sniper codenamed White Death is said to have killed more than 500 people in 100 days against the Soviet Red Army in the Second World War.
