Chris Forsberg Life

Christopher Forsberg (born April 6, 1982), an American self-taught drifter from Doylestown, Pennsylvania, who now competes in the Formula Drift series in his Nissan 370Z for NOS Energy Drink.

Early life

At the age of ten, he first became interested in cars by attending drag racing championships with his uncles at Maple Grove Raceway Park in Pennsylvania. Chris was introduced to flat track motorcycle racing by his cousin's participation in the sport. This is what started the urge for early onset slip angle addiction.

Chris, a teen, learned how to work on cars with his black 1988 Mazda RX-7 FC. Multiple tickets for driving infractions would then be sent to him by local police. With a revoked license, he had time to obsess over Yahoo! Car parts and hobbies are auctioned in Japan.

Chris is credited to his brother Erik, Tony Angelo, Initial D, and Option Magazine for introducing him to the RX-7 and drifting.

Personal life

Chris has one older brother named Erik and one younger sister. He lives in San Clemente, California.

Chris Forsberg Career

Early Drifting Career

At 21, Chris was involved in east coast drifting as a judge for Drift and Hyperfest. The D1 Grand Prix revealed that they were heading to America for a drivers search in the summer of 2003. He and Tony Angelo loaded their cars onto a flatbed rented truck and rode to Irwindale Speedway. Neither Chris nor Tony made it past the first round of qualifying, but here they will network and make lifelong friends.

Professional Drifting Career

Chris lands on the podium in Round 5 and backs it up with a 1st Place finish in Round 6. The engine failure on Round 7 and 8 kept them out of the championship hunt, with them taking out a borrowed car to keep overall points, placing fifth overall.

The team decided to the Nissan VR38DETT engine after two years of struggling with the VQ platform. Overall, the team came in fifth place, but they were able to show the VR engine's dependability.

Chris takes over the race team once more and rebuilds the car with his team in southern California. The pit crew at Forsberg Racing enjoyed a year of development, but a lot of work was put into making the car more competitive. Despite multiple engine failures, the team maintained multiple podiums as well as a victory in Round 3. Overall, the team came in fourth place.

Chris moved from Maryland to California. Nameless Performance took over the race team's administration and vehicle preparations. Compared to the V8's twin turbo VQ35HR engine package, the team decided to build a twin turbo VQ35HR engine package. Multiple engine problems and the fact that we had to use the backup vehicle several times throughout the season made the 11th overall finish.

Despite not winning an award, Forsberg was named Formula Drift champion once more, piloting his Nissan 370Z, which was also not winning an event. He was able to take the championship trophy after round six in Seattle, which he continued to defend until the final round in Irwindale thanks to his consistency (two third-place finishes and four second-place finishes, all in a row). After competing in a Formula Drift World Championship round in Okayama, Japan, he earned the Formula Drift World Championship title, boosting his chances of winning World Championship points.

Overall, third place. There were no budget funds in the first half of the season. This year marks the third in a string of top-three championship finishes.

Chris and the team earned a point of distinction from the first round to the last round this season, and they will clinch their second Formula Drift title this season. Due to the company's corporate reorganization, no one was retained as a primary sponsor, resulting in less funds and a raw carbon fiber matte black livery. The car was boosted by 150 hp with nitrous this season. Forsberg's 2014 Forsberg Racing team also expanded to include two cars, with Jhonnattan Castro taking the second seat in a new Forsberg 2012 370Z chassis. In virtually every drifting series in the world, Forsberg also suggested the addition of the "Start Line Chicane" to Formula Drift.

This season was a turbulent one. Chris will finish second overall, but not without rumors, wild accusations, and conspiracy theories.

Chris and the crew split up with their chief and Chris, and MA Motorsports went to Maryland, where MA Motorsports will prepare and build his race cars. Vehicle weight reduction and engine longevity were two primary goals in the study. Overall, the team will finish 11th.

This was Chris' first full season with a Nissan Motorsports engine. This vehicle had a factory angle, factory brakes, and a factory gas tank. The chassis and motor were sold by Nissan. The car was modestly built with a strong emphasis on good durability. Overall, the team came in third place.

Formula Drift's new decade saw more V8s and more horsepower. The team upgraded Nissan Motorsports engine from 380rwhp to 580rwhp midway through 2010, bringing total horsepower up from 380rwhp to 580rwhp. The team's growth continued in 2010 as they brace for future success.

Chris will win his first Formula Drift championship and the Tires.com Triple Crown bonus draw (first driver to win both in the same season). His victory is the first time a Formula Drift champion has come from purely drifting/enthusiast background, though previous champions had no formal motorsport experience.

NOS Energy Drink has committed to a complete title sponsorship, building on their previous relationship. The year began with a bang over Tanner Foust and Sam Hubbinette at Long Beach, taking first place.

Chris was running his own team and serving as team boss for the first time this year. He will lead a top-three level staff after working with Maxxis tires and on a shoestring budget. Chris Forsberg Racing had a fruitful year this year, owing to contingency funds. Maxxis would match Formula Drift's earned winnings if they kept winning. Overall, the team came in second place, paving the way for his NOS Energy Drink sponsorship.

Nissan North America became aware of Chris' campaign efforts and sent him a convertible 350z for the 2006 season. The team converted the stock VQ35DE engine for the Nissan Titan's VK56DE V8. Chris did not have a competition car, so he had to use his backup car, the SR20DET 350Z, for a few rounds as he sorted out the V8 and its chassis. Despite being qualified, he had two bad rounds of the seven but not unhappy ones.

Chris was a member of Team Falken Password JDM Silvia S15. The season's last match of the season was also against Rhys Millen in his GTO. The drama on Super Street was chronicled: "The finals between Rhys Millen and Team Falken's Chris Forsberg would be something for the books." On Forsberg's old 350Z, he had a sticker saying, "too close for missiles, switching to guns!" Well, in the season finale and the final battle, Forsberg's rear bumper lit up as he went completely sideways through the course at speeds that only Millen could duplicate. A one more time was in the works, but it was too much for Millen's GTO. While Forsberg's consistency on a track of blazing speed releasing tons of smoke, he'll see his first Formula Drift victory.

Chris placed second at his first Formula Drift event at Road Atlanta in 2004 and followed it up with another podium finish at round 2 in Houston, Texas. Chris Hubinette's year-long streak at Irwindale Speedway, which might be considered one of his career's pivotal points.

Chris will drive the 350Z SR20DET for the first time in his career, and for one race, he had to convert to a borrowed Nissan Silvia S13 due to technical difficulties. The SR20DET Z completed the campaign.

The team was involved in a D1 race in which Chris became the first American driver to beat a Japanese driver, Team Orange's Kazuhiro Tanaka, after Irwindale.
