The upcoming Chris Farley biopic has been obtained by New Line Cinema following 'highly competitive' bidding. Deadline, citing sources, reported the film company had purchased the project for around $2.5 million. Variety described efforts at landing the project as 'highly competitive.' 

A Chris Farley biopic is in the works with Paul Walter Hauser to star as the tragic SNL star who died from a drug overdose in 1997 aged 33. Hauser, 37, will play the late star in a project directed by actor Josh Gad, 43, and produced by Lorne Michaels' Broadway video banner, per THR .
