According to investigators, a woman riding her bicycle back to Venezuela to reunite with her mother was beaten, sexually assaulted, and set on fire by a couple who welcomed her into their northwestern Brazil home so she could rest. According to the Amazonas Civil Police, Julieta Hernández, 38, was discovered dead last Friday, buried in the backyard. The couple, who were identified as Deliomara dos Anjos, 29, and her partner, Thiago da Silva, 32, were arrested before the body was discovered. They have been charged with concealing a body, robbery, and rape.
