Charles "Charlie" Thomas, an American rhythm and blues singer best known for his appearance with The Drifters, was born on April 7, 1937, Lynchburg, Virginia.
In 1958, Thomas Thomas was performing with The Five Crowns at the Apollo Theater when George Treadwell's company, The Drifters, was dismissed from his group.
The Five Crowns were recruited by Treadwell to be the new Drifters. The new Drifters' first film, "There Goes My Baby," was released in 1959.
