Charles Thomas "Charlie" Schlatter (born May 1, 1966) is an American actor and voice actor, who has appeared in numerous films and television series.

He is best known for playing Dr. Jesse Travis, the student of Dr. Mark Sloan (Dick Van Dyke), in the CBS series Diagnosis: Murder and for starring in the big screen comedy 18 Again!, opposite George Burns.

Since the early 1990s, he has been primarily a voice actor.

Early life

Schlatter was born in Englewood, New Jersey. Growing up in Fair Lawn, New Jersey, he got his start in acting at the borough's Memorial Junior High School. He reportedly only auditioned for the school play Oliver! to impress a girl. He received the lead part of Oliver Twist.

Schlatter attended Ithaca College. He later earned a B.F.A. in musical theater. He starred in numerous school plays and became a skilled musician, playing guitar, drums and piano. He also began writing songs.

Personal life

Schlatter dated Jennifer Aniston in 1990, during the shooting of the Ferris Bueller television series. He married Colleen Gunderson in 1994 and they have two daughters and a son.

Schlatter was discovered by a casting director during a 1989 appearance and was invited to audition for Bright Lights, Big City. This culminated in his first film appearance as Michael J.'s younger brother. Fox.

Schlatter began his acting role as Dr. Jesse Travis on the television series Diagnosis: Murder, opposite Dick Van Dyke, who was enthralled with his appearance. In the third season, Scott Baio's character was introduced as a comedic relief character. He remained on the show for the next six seasons until it was cancelled in 2001. He also wrote the episode "A Resting Place" during the series. He and Van Dyke are close friends who continue to visit him, Schlatter's wife Colleen, and their three children after the series's conclusion. He was also one of the guests at his acting mentor's 90th Birthday Party at Disneyland in Anaheim, California, on December 13, 2015. In a 2017 interview with Acast.com, he said, "I know!" if he is still friends with the then-91-year-old Van Dyke. I probably owe him a call or he probably owes me a call.

Cartoons (a character he'll later play in the Bravest Warriors pilot) Cameron on Bratz and Doctor Mindbender, Wild Bill and Lift-Ticket on G.I. Joe: Renegades.

Schlatter had been originally intended for the role of Philip J. Fry on Futurama, but Billy West was given the role due to a casting change.

In Metal Gear Solid 3: Snake Eater as well as Raiden's short film Metal Gear Raiden: Snake Eater and Raiden's Short Film In the short film Metal Gear Solid 3: Subsistence Game, Schlatter was the voice of Major Raikov. In the game Ape Escape 3, he played Specter, the villain. In 2012, he also voiced Finn in the game Sorcery.

In EverQuest II, he recited Aatius Vedrix, Lucius Vulso, Tarakh, Steward Daedakovoon, Znink Flatzazzle, and Dunn Coldbrow. In Lego Batman 2: The Flash, Robin and Allegory, Lego Batman 3: Beyond Gotham and Lego Dimensions, he reprised his role as The Flash. In The Wonderful 101, he also voiced the main protagonist, Wonder-Red.
