Chad Wackerman Career

Musical career

In a family immersed in music, Wackerman was raised in Seal Beach, California. Chuck Wackerman, a drummer, has taught at both high school and middle school, with a focus on jazz. Chad, John and Brooks, are all proficient drummers and multi-instrumentalists. Drum Duets Vol. 1 is John's first album.

Wackerman appeared in Bill Watrous' 1978 bandwagon and then spent time with Frank Zappa from 1981 to 1988. In rehearsal and on tour, Zappa demanded high musical quality and enforced stringent discipline. According to Steve Valiant and Wackerman himself, the auditions for his band were "grueling." "Mo 'n Herb's Vacation" and "The Black Page" were two of music's most popular songs. Only three drummers from Zappa's career were able to perform them: Wackerman, Terry Bozzio, and Vinnie Colaiuta. In an interview with Drum Magazine, Bozzio revealed that although Colaiuta gained more fame from playing with Zappa, Wackerman performed Zappa's most challenging content.

Wackerman appeared on Zappa's rock albums and tours in 1983, and he appeared with the London Symphony Orchestra in a concert and recording session of Zappa's compositions.
