Catriona Isobel Matthew (née Lambert, born 25 August 1969) is a Scottish professional golfer who competes mainly on the American-based LPGA Tour and is also a member of the Ladies European Tour.
Personal life
Matthew's father, Graeme, is her caddy, and they had their first child, Katie, on December 18, 2006. On May 16, 2009, Matthew gave birth to Sophie, his second daughter.
Matthew and her husband survived a fire at the hotel where they were staying when she competed in the Evian Masters in July 2009. Graeme was injured to his feet and was unable to deem for two rounds.

Amateur career
Catriona Lambert was born in Edinburgh and grew up in North Berwick. She learned to golf on the Children's Course and North Berwick West Links in the town. She was a natural performer in junior and amateur, winning the Scottish Girls champion in 1986 and the Scottish Under-21 Stroke Play champion in 1989 and 1989. In 1991, 1993, 1993, 1994, and 1994, she won the Scottish Amateur championship, 1993, 1993, and 1994, as well as the British Amateur championship in 1993. She is also a two-time winner of the St Rule Trophy, which takes place at St Andrews. She was a member of the 1990, 1992, and 1994 Great Britain & Ireland Curtis Cup teams. She graduated from the University of Stirling in 1992 having studied accountancy, one of the few British universities to offer golf scholarships.
Professional career
Matthew qualified for the LPGA Tour by placing fifth at the 1994 LPGA Final Qualifying Tournament, earning exempt status for the 1995 season. She landed herself on the Tour shortly, and her best seasons came in 2001 and 2005, when she ranked tenth on the money list.
Matthew qualified for the Ladies European Tour in 1995 and appears in numerous events on the tour each season. In 1996, she won her first professional tournament at the Holden Women's Australian Open. On the Ladies European Tour in 1998, she won the WPGA Championship in McDonald's 1998. She was a member of the 1998 Solheim Cup Team and first reserve for the 2000 games in her native Scotland. Helen Alfredsson was called into the team but Alfredsson recovered and Matthew did not play. She was largely dropped out of the 2002 Solheim Cup team, but she was a captain's pick for the 2003 team, winning the Cup for the first time. She was also a captain's pick for the 2005 team. She qualified outright for the Solheim Cup teams of 2007, 2009, and 2011.
At the 2005 and 2006 Women's World Cup of Golf, she teamed with Janice Moodie to represent Scotland. He was a member of Annika Sörenstam's triumphant International team in the inaugural Lexus Cup.

She won the inaugural HSBC LPGA Brasil Cup 2009, an unofficial LPGA tournament with a field of 14 LPGA players and a Brazilian national amateur, in January 2009. At the time of the victory, Matthew was five months pregnant with her second child at the time.
Matthew won the Ricoh Women's British Open final score of 3-under-par over second-place finisher Karrie Webb on August 2nd. It was her first victory in a major tournament. Sophie, Sophie's second daughter, was born 11 weeks after she gave birth to her second daughter, Sophie. She was the first female to win a major golf tournament in Scotland.
Matthew captured her fourth LPGA title at the Lorena Ochoa Invitational in Mexico on November 13, 2011.
Matthew finished runner-up after losing a sudden-death playoff against world number one Inbee Park at the 2013 LPGA Championship. Matthew and Park were tied at five-under-par, with Matthew coming from seven strokes behind Park at the beginning of the final round. They both parred the first two extra holes in the playoffs, but Matthew lost out on the third extra hole when Park made birdie on the third hole.
Matthew was named as a vice-captain for the 2017 Solheim Cup in July 2016, but he did not participate in the game due to Suzann Pettersen's injury.
Matthew was appointed captain of the 2019 Solheim Cup, which took place at Gleneagles on September 21. In 2019, Europe lifted the cup for the first time.
