On stage 20 of the Tour de France in Le Markstein, Tadej Pogacar outsprinted Jonas Vingegaard to win, but it was the Dane who could start defending his name ahead of Sunday's parade into Paris. Pogacar was unable to contend with Vingegaard for the yellow jersey in the Alps' final week of the competition, but he did a good job on the final mountain test when he defeated Vingegaard in a five-man sprint at Belfort. Felix Gall snuck out for second place on the day, while Simon Yates and Adam Yates came in fourth and fifth, putting him third overall for Adam and Sam Yates after Carlos Rodriguez was left bloodied above his left eye following a horrific early accident.

After the 152 kilometers walk from Annemasse, defending champion Vingegaard came third on Pogacar's wheel in Morzine. However, it was Vingegaard who had 12 bonus seconds on the day, but Pogacar took 11, giving the Dane a 10-second advantage over the two-time Tour champion as the two teams continue their battle for the yellow jersey.

After the conviction was reversed, a man sentenced to life in jail for a hot car accident would not be retried

www.dailymail.co.uk, May 26, 2023
Prosecutors announced Thursday that a father from Georgia would not face another trial for his toddler's death in a hot car after the Georgia Supreme Court delayed his murder and child cruelty convictions last year. The high court upheld 42-year-old Justin Ross Harris' convictions on three sex offenses committed against a 16-year-old teen that Harris did not appeal. According to the district attorney's office, he was sentenced to 12 years in jail for those offenses, and he will continue to serve that term. Harris' convictions were affirmed by the Georgia Supreme Court justices who found that there was ample reason to back up Harris' convictions. However, the majority opinion said that much of the evidence relating to his sexual conduct should not have been allowed at trial and may have improperly influenced the jury.

PLAYER RATINGS: Guillermo Ochoa is the star for Mexico AGAIN at the World Cup

Chances were few and far apart, but Lewandowski had a golden opportunity to put Poland in front three minutes before the hour's time when his side was given a spot-kick. Ochoa, who was competing at his fifth World Cup, was equal to Lewandowski's attempt to deny the Barcelona striker. The two teams seemed to have reached a point in what seemed to be an uninspiring contest.

Since an Andes plane crash that forced them to cannibalism, 'alive' survivors recall their struggles to recover

www.dailymail.co.uk, October 16, 2022
The 16 survivors of Uruguayan Flight 571, which was scheduled to carry a group of amateur rugby players and their families, were reunited in Chile to commemorate the 50th anniversary of their horrific ordeal, which was described as the Miracle in the Andes (right). Their story was immortalized in Piers Paul Read's best-selling book Alive: The Story of the Andes Survivors, which was later made into a film in 1993, with a new Netflix version in the works. Carlos Paez (left), who appeared in the Sunday Times in London, said it was the survivors' right to travel the world and tell their tale of the 72 days they spent in the freezing mountains compelled to eat their friends' bodies. He said, 'I've done six million miles on American Airlines,' he recalled, citing his apprehension about flying.' "I'm destined to repeat this tale forevermore, just as the Beatles were forced to sing Yesterday."
