Carlos Blanco Galindo Life

Carlos Blanco Galindo (March 12, 1882 – October 2, 1943) served as Bolivia's caretaker President from June 1930 to March 1931. Carlos Blanco was born in Cochabamba, Bolivia.

Blanco, a career military officer and a lawyer, was one of the protesters ousted from office Hernando Siles, who had wanted to prolong his term in office due to the serious challenges posed by the onset of the Great Depression and other looming political crises.

Siles resigned and left his cabinet collectively in charge, but it was this "Silista" cabinet that was overthrown by the 1970 coup led by Blanco (in coalition with the parties opposed to Siles) in late June, 1930. Blanco's term was actually simple, quick, and short.

His primary objective was to call new elections, which took place within 7 months of his swearing-in.

He seemed to defer to his highly able technocratic Cabinet, led by Daniel Sánchez Bustamante (1871-1933) — the grandfather, not coincidentally, of future president Gonzalo Sánchez de Lozada.

Upon the inauguration of Daniel Salamanca's government and his oath, he was given the honor of ambassadorship but he was recalled briefly to the active service after the 1948 coup in Paraguay (1932–35).

He'd continue to write a number of books later on. GM Blanco died in Cochabamba in October, 1943.
