Brian West (born March 12, 1971) is a Canadian record producer, songwriter, musician, engineer and mixer based in Los Angeles.

He is a guitarist for the Canadian band The Philosopher Kings.

Formerly of the production team Track and Field, he is best known for his work with Nelly Furtado, Maroon 5, Awolnation, K'naan, and Bono.

He co-produced Andy Grammer's single "Honey, I'm Good" with Steve Greenberg and Nolan Sipe.

His most recent release, "Salted Wound" sung by Sia is on the Fifty Shades of Grey soundtrack.

He is based in Los Angeles.

West has been nominated for an Academy Award, two Grammy Awards and has won seven Juno Awards.

Life and career

In 1994, West began his career as the lead guitarist for the Toronto-based band The Philosopher Kings. After winning a Canadian Juno Award in the late 1990s, he began to produce music for other artists, teaming up with Kings lead singer Gerald Eaton to produce Nelly Furtado's debut album, Whoa, Nelly. The project received a Grammy Award for West's production and a win for Furtado, as well as several Juno Awards. West and Eaton co-wrote and co-produced Furtado's sequel, as a production team under the name Track and Field, together with Somali Canadian rapper K'Naan, gaining several more Junos. West branched out into solo writing, now producing and writing alongside such well-known artists as Maroon 5, Awolnation, K'Naan, Nakia, and Bono.

His work has appeared on soundtracks for a variety of films, including Fifty Shades of Grey, The Mortal Instruments, The Italian Job, Harold and Kumar's Exile from Guantanamo Bay, and Brokedown Palace, among others.

At least 54 partiers were arrested after this year's Orange Crush event on Tybee Island, where 6,000 people gathered on the beach on Saturday. Officers also issued 116 citations and recovered three stolen firearms and a stolen vehicle. At this year's bash, a fight broke out on the beach's boardwalk (pictured), during which some women exchanged vicious blows with one another in front of a crowd of onlookers. There was also a large quantity of litter left on the beach, which was picked up by volunteers (right) and lifeguards.

Volunteers and Tybee Island lifeguards gathered on the beach Sunday morning to pick up the trash left behind by the wild Orange Crush event. The massive clean-up effort lasted more than two days, and the volunteers were confronted with an extensive amount of trash. The mayor of Tybee Island said that the event likely inflicted more than $220k of costs on the community.
