Brian Patrick Dowling (born 13 June 1978) is an Irish television presenter.
He came to fame after winning the second season of reality series Big Brother and then went on to win Ultimate Big Brother in 2010.
He came third in 2007 and 2008, and he was runner-up in the Irish reality television series Fáilte Towers.
Dowling appeared on Live from Studio Five alongside Kate Walsh from 2010 to its cancellation in February 2011. Dowling would become the new host of Big Brother after its move to Channel 5, replacing Davina McCall.
After launching two editions of Big Brother and four versions of Celebrity Big Brother, Channel 5 reported in April 2013 that Dowling would be replaced by Emma Willis.
Early life
Dowling was born in Rathangan, County Kildare, Ireland, on June 13. He trained as a holiday rep and air steward for Ryanair before coming out of the public eye. He came out as gay to his parents two days before he appeared in Big Brother in 2001.
Media career
Dowling debuted Big Brother on SMTV Live, becoming the first openly gay children's television presenter. In addition to narrating the Channel 4 reality series The Salon, he also hosted his own show on ITV, Brian's Boyfriends, and Brian's Boyfriends.
With BBC Radio 1 host Jo Whiley, Brian co-hosted the Elle Style Awards in 2002. Duncan James and Tara Palmer-Tomkinson were among the winners of the NOW Magazine Style Awards in 2003, where he also received the award for Most Stylish UK Personality.
On Liz Bonnin's Celebrity Extra show on Living TV, Dowling was a regular participant. He has appeared on several commercials and TV shows, as well as hosting the companion show to I'm Famous and Frightened.
Dowling fronted the party in Leeds' Park concert with Coronation Street's Nikki Sanderson in July 2005. Fran Cosgrave and Caroline Morahan joined him in August 2005 to front the Irish O2 in the Park concert in Phoenix Park, Dublin.

He then went on to become a contestant on TV3's Celebrity Salon, where he and several other Irish celebrities (Pippa O'Connor, Leigh Arnold, Virginia Macari, Celia Holman Lee, and Breffny Morgan) learned the beauty trade. Celebrity Salon debuted on television in June 2010. Facials, waxing, surgical intervention, hairdressing, and styling were all among the tasks.
He appeared on a special episode of Come Dine with Me, as well as three other Big Brother winners, and was named the winner.
