Early life
Blade was born and raised in Shreveport, Louisiana, where he was destined to be a "social coward." Brady L. Blade, Sr.'s father, Brady L. Music appreciation classes in elementary school were a vital part of his growth, and at age nine, he began playing the violin for the first time. Blade, who had been the drummer at Zion Baptist Church, influenced by his older brother, Brady Blade, Jr., shifted his attention to the drums throughout middle and high school.
When attending Dorsey Summerfield, Jr., Blade began listening to John Coltrane, Charlie Parker, Miles Davis, Art Blakey, Thelonious Monk, Elvin Jones, and Joni Mitchell during high school. Brian attended Loyola University in New Orleans at the age of eighteen. He studied and performed with most of New Orleans' top musicians, including Johnny Vidacovich, Ellis Marsalis, Steve Masakowski, Bill Huntington, John Mahoney, John Mahoney, John Mahoney, John Mahoney, George French, David Lee, Jr., Alvin Red Tyler, Tony Dagradi, and Harold Battiste.
