Early life
Alvarez was born in New York City to Paul and Angela Jordan Alvarez, an electrical engineer and Spanish tutor, respectively. Catalina is his sister. He spent his youth in Winchester, Tennessee, where he began acting and making films. He was teased and mocked for his sexuality in middle school. He went to Sewanee School in Saint Andrews and then the University of North Carolina School of the Arts in Winston-Salem, North Carolina. He continued to study acting at the USC School of Dramatic Arts, where he obtained his Bachelor of Fine Arts in Acting after being heavily involved in his school's drama program.
Alvarez, a Colombian and Spanish descendant, has ancestry from the American South, and traces his roots from the other side of his family. He speaks Spanish fluently.

Career
Alvarez appeared in numerous theater productions over the years. Since being in Winchester (Winchester), he has been involved in a number of large and small projects. While at UC, he stayed active in plays and cinematic projects, collaborating with several of the film students. He appeared in short films, music videos, and several other acting roles.
