*ViRGIL UPDATE* A lot of you ask about Virgil and that means so much to me because he is such a special gift in my life. In March 2022 Virgil fractured his navicular bone and had a very rare surgery and difficult surgery that placed a permanent screw inside his navicular bone to stabilize it. Although his fracture healed beautifully, he developed arthritis secondary to his injury in both coffin joints. After multiple rounds of injections and corrective shoeing, he is still on and off lame. So, he’s been on lay up and turn out just chillin’ while we wait to remove his corrective shoes and try different options. He has started a daily medication called equiox that should improve his inflammation significantly and make him more comfortable on the day to day. Until then, we are not riding but I am trying my BEST to patiently wait for the day Virgil and I can ride like this again. I’m staying hopeful and positive that one day we will at least be able to mosey along the trails. I’ve accepted we may never be able to go on 3+ hour rides deep in the hills, but just to get out, back on the flat land trails and explore together again is our goal and my dream. Thanks for always keeping Virgie in your thoughts. Y’all would love him just as much if you knew him! He’s a big puppy dog and he’s my best boy, my best friend, my partner in crime and not being able to ride him has been really hard for my mental health. I’m thankful to have Lucy who is able to ride and Willow will soon be able to ride so that’s been distracting me… but nothing beats the days when Virgil and I could ride like the wind. ❤️ Posted by @imbrettrossi on Nov 11, 2022 02:30PM
