World Championships

Dowell, along with Simone Biles, Gabby Douglas, Madison Kocian, Maggie Nichols, Aly Raisman, and Mykayla Skinner, was selected to represent the United States of America at the 2015 World Artistic Gymnastics Championships in Glasgow on October 8. In team qualifying, she competed on floor, vault, and bars. Her music did not perform during her floor appearance in qualifications. She maintained a solid routine without music and went along with the audience's clapping. On the ground, she made a piked double front salto. This was the first time the technique had been showcased at the World Championships, and it had been deemed after her in the Code of Points. She had a solid vault afterward. She also competed in the uneven bars. Dowell earned gold with the team as a world champion later this year.

Brenna attended the U.S Olympic Team Summit in early 2016, an opportunity for prospective Olympic Team members to visit the media and do promotional duties. In April, Dowell was selected to compete in the 2016 Pacific Rim Gymnastics Championships in Everett, Washington. Brenna had a clean competition on day 1 of her competition, winning all four of her events, which included her gold medals for Team USA. She earned a bronze medal with team USA in fourth place all-Around, with a score of 58.850, making a good case to earn one of the top five spots on the 2016 Olympic Team. Dowell, although not scoring the 4th best score at the Pacific Rim Championships, did not receive the 4th position because of the two countries' different traditions. Officially, Shallon Olsen of Canada received the honor, but the selection committee for the 2016 U.S Olympic team will announce that she did not reach her fourth highest ranking behind US teammates, Aly Raisman, Simone Biles, and Laurie Hernandez.
