Brendan Grace Life

Brendan Grace (1 April 1951 – July 2019,) was an Irish comedian and singer.

He was best known for his comedic schoolboy character "Bottler," the 1995 film Moondance, and his appearance in Father Fintan Stack, Ireland's TV sitcom Father Fintan Stack.

His 1975 album "The Combine Harvester" was a top-one hit in Ireland, followed by his 1982 release of "The Dutchman," which is considered to be one of the most enduring versions of the song.

Early life

Grace was born in Dublin's heart in 1951 and grew on Echlin Street, in the inner city Liberties neighborhood. To keep the family alive, Seamus' father worked as a bartender, an ambulance man, and other odd jobs. Grace left school at the age of 13 to begin working, like many young Dubliners of the time. He started off as a messenger, a career he often referred to in his live act.

Personal life

Grace married Eileen Doyle in 1973. Melanie, Brendan, Amanda, and Bradley had four children. The last is best known as a member of American metalcore band Poison the Well.

Grace published Amuzing Grace, his autobiography, in November 2009 (ISBN 0956354114). He divided his time between his home in Jupiter, Florida, and his pub in Killaloe, County Clare, which he named Brendan Grace's Bar in his later years.

Grace was diagnosed with pneumonia in June 2019 and died of lung cancer at the Galway Clinic in Galway, Ireland, aged 68. On July 15, his funeral took place at the Church of St. Nicholas of Myra in Dublin, followed by cremation. Thousands of spectators gathered outside the church and along the parade route, which included stops outside the Guinness brewery and Grace's childhood home on Echlin Street. His family's ashes were scattered on Lough Derg, near their family's home in Killaloe, County Clare, a year later. At his new location in Killaloe, where he used to feed the ducks and the swans.

Brendan Grace Career

Music career

Grace formed the Gingermen's band at the age of 18. They toured Ireland in what has come to be known as the showband era of the 1960s, although the Gingermen were more a folk group rather than a showband. During a performance one night, the band discovered themselves two members short; in an effort to pact an euphoric audience, Grace was brought to the stage to humour them. His wit and observations of daily life in Ireland instantly won over the crowd, and he'll continue to sell out venues around the globe. Frank Sinatra, who referred to Grace as his "man in Europe," and John Denver, among others, were among those who attended.

"Cushie Butterfield," "The Combine Harvester," Grace's hit song in Ireland in 1975, and "The Dutchman" was a UK number one hit for The Wurzels in 1976.

Acting career

Grace appeared in Moondance in 1995, and as Father Fintan Stack in the Father Ted episode "New Jack City" the following year. In 2007, he appeared as Big Sean in Killinaskully, and in 2015, he appeared in The Gift.

In a TV film also named Bottler in November 2013, he resurrects his Bottler role. It describes Bottler's early years and his struggles.
