Brandon McManus Career

College career

McManus holds the Temple career records for points (338), field goals (338), and punting average (45.3). After leading the team in scoring (74) on 14-of-17 field goals and 32-of-33 extra points as a senior in 2012, he earned All-Big East first-team honors. He averaged 45.1 yards per punt, pinned 17 punts inside the 20-yard line, and had a long kick of 68 yards. McManus did well on kickoffs and had 40 touchbacks on 56 total kickoffs.

Professional career

McManus went undrafted in the 2013 NFL Draft before being suspended before the season's debut. Matt Prater, the Broncos' starting kicker, appeared in four preseason games for the New York Giants before being traded to the Denver Broncos to cover for the Broncos' starting quarterback Matt Prater's absence in 2014 after a four-game suspension. Following Prater's arrival on October 3, 2014, he became the team's starting kicker. After the Broncos decided to sign free agent Connor Barth as his replacement, McManus was waived by the Broncos on November 11, 2014. After clearing waivers and spending the remainder of the season as the team's kickoff specialist, he was quickly recalled by the Broncos.

Both Barth and McManus were recruited to training camp for the 2015 season. McManus won the position, being more consistent than he had been in 2014, and the Broncos cut Barth. Sebastian Janikowski and Greg Zuerlein, who both made the feat in 2012, became the third kicker in NFL history to make multiple field goals of 56 or more yards in the same game on September 13, 2015. McManus scored the game winning overtime field goal on October 18, propeling the Broncos to a 26–23 overtime victory over the Cleveland Browns. McManus scored five field goals in a 23-16 victory over the Steelers at Sports Authority Field at Mile High in the Divisional Round of the playoffs, setting a new NFL record. McManus and the Broncos advanced to the Super Bowl after defeating the New England Patriots in the AFC Championship. In Super Bowl 50, he was instrumental in three field goals on three attempts and an extra point in the Carolina Panthers' 24-20 victory. He also set a Broncos franchise record for the 10th time in the field this year.

The Broncos held a second restricted free agent tender on McManus on March 7, 2017. McManus joined the Broncos on September 11, 2017 for a three-year deal.

McManus signed a four-year, $17.2 million contract extension with the Broncos through the 2024 season on September 11, 2020. McManus won by 53 yards against the New York Jets in Week 4, earning AFC Special Teams Player of the Week. McManus scored all 18 of his team's points against the New England Patriots in Week 6, converting 6 field goals during the 18–12 victory. For his work in Week 6, McManus was named one of the AFC Special Teams of the Week. By the time, he was on the reserve/COVID-19 list and activated on December 23, 2020, and was activated on December 23.

McManus converted all five extra points and a 52-yard field goal in a 38-10 victory over the Detroit Lions, earning AFC Special Teams Player of the Week for Week 14.

McManus kicked a career-long 61-yard field goal against the Los Angeles Chargers in Week 17 of the 2021-2022 season.

Bills and Brandon McManus, godfathers to each other's children and their parents are partners in London, but they are adversaries in London

www.dailymail.co.uk, October 7, 2023
Exclusive BY PETER CARLINE IN LONDON: Von Miller and Brandon McManus will be on opposing teams at Tottenham Hotspur. They were co-mates in Denver for more than seven years and became best friends. Professional acquaintances of the company. The kind of people who are godfathers to each other's children. They spend Christmas Eves together. Their fathers are allies. 'You know, seven-eight years in Denver, you just grow really close,' Miller said. 'Even to this day,' I'm with the Bills, as he is with the Jags. And we'll all talk about two to three times a week. So here's a look at one of my guys.'
