On August 5, Brandon Cole, 36, was shot by officers who mistook a marker pen he was holding for a knife. Denver police have since released a body-camera video of the shooting. Cole, his wife, and his teenage son were among the victims of the tragic incident. A neighbor had called 911 to alert potential domestic abuse involving Cole, his wife, and his teenage son. According to the caller, the woman may have been pushed out of her wheelchair and that Cole was 'going after' his son, Cmdr. Matt Clark said. A woman and a young child seen behind Cole in the video were not hurt, nor were they involved in the call to the police.
