In his adopted hometown of Lytham, Lancashire, a nine-foot bronze sculpture of legendary comedian Bobby Ball pulling on his braces 'with a twinkle in his eye' has been unveiled. The massive statue, which weighs about 600 kg (1322 lbs) and depicts the showman on his 40th birthday, was unveiled near the town's seafront today. Lee Mack - who appeared with Bobby in the hit series 'Not Going Out' - and his long-time comedy partner Tommy Canon (pictured top right, with Lee Mack) spoke at the moving event. Alfie Boe, an English tenor and Blackpool's native, performed at the unveiling of the NHS choir with an NHS choir, while Bobby's widow Yvonne (below right) paid moving tributes later. After testing positive for Covid in October 2020, the legendary comedian, who was one half of comedy duo Cannon and Ball, died at the age of 76.
