Robert Brackett "Bob" Elliott (March 26, 1923 – February 2, 2016) was an American actor and comedian, one half of Bob and Ray's comedy team.
He was the father of comedian/actor Chris Elliott, as well as the grandfather of actress and comedians Abby Elliott and Bridey Elliott.

Personal life
In 1943, Elliott married Jane Underwood. They divorced in 1953, without having any children. Raymond Knight, a novelist and writer, died in 1953. Elliott married Lee (née Peppers), the Knight's widow, in 1954. They were married for 58 years before her death in 2012. Chris Elliott and Bob Elliott Jr. had two sons, as well as one daughter, Amy Andersen. Colony Elliott Santangelo and Shannon Elliott, Lee and Ray Knight's two children, were adopted by the couple. They had 11 grandchildren and five great-grandchildren.

Elliott died in Cundy's Harbor, Maine, on February 2, 2016, at the age of 92.
Life and career
Elliott was born in Winchester, Massachusetts, the son of Gail Marguarite (née Brackett), a needleworker, and Fred Russell Elliott, who worked in insurance. In WWII, Bob Elliott served in the United States Army in Northern Europe. On radio, he appeared in programmes with his long-time partner Ray Goulding. These were in different series and time slots over decades, beginning in the late 1940s on Boston's WHDH radio.
Elliott and Goulding hosted Bob and Ray from 1951 to 1953 on television. He appeared on a variety of other television shows, including Happy Days; Newhart; and Bob & Ray, Jane, Laraine Newman and Gilda Radner, 1979 (with Goulding, Jane Curtin, and Gilda Radner); and Saturday Night Live.In 1982, Elliott was in Author!
