Bo Bichette Career

Professional career

In the second round of the 2016 Major League Baseball draft, the Toronto Blue Jays selected Bichette, the 66th overall pick of the 2016 Major League Baseball draft. He revealed afterward that he turned down four bids during the draft in order to move to Toronto and received a $1.1 million bonus on June 17. Bichette was put on the 7-day injured list after suffering an injury to his midsection that was later determined to be a ruptured appendix. He began the season with a.431 batting average through 18 games with the Gulf Coast League Blue Jays. He returned to the lineup shortly before the season ended, and the year ended with a.427 batting average, four home runs, and 36 runs batted in (RBI). Bichette was named the Gulf Coast League's end-of-season All-Star at shortstop on September 13, despite missing more than half of the season due to injuries. He represented Brazil at the 2017 World Baseball Classic in the offseason – Qualifier 4.

Bichette was assigned to the Lansing Lugnuts to begin the 2017 season. On June 7, he was named a Midwest League All-Star. Bichette led the league in batting average, hits, runs scored, slugging percentage, and on-base plus slugging percentage to that point in the season. After a 7-for-8 appearance in a doubleheader against the South Bend Cubs on June 15, Bichette boosted his batting average to an even.400. He was added to the United States roster for the 2017 All-Star Futures Game on June 29, a former footballer. Bichette was named the Midwest League Player of the Month for June on July 6, 2007. After the All-Star Futures Game, the Blue Jays announced later that day that he would be promoted to the Advanced-A Dunedin Blue Jays. In 70 games for Lansing, Bichette was voted Midwest League Most Valuable Player (MVP), Prospect of the Year, and a Postseason All-Star. Bichette played in 40 games and came up.323 with four home runs, 23 RBI, and ten stolen bases for Dunedin. His.362 batting average led all of Minor League Baseball, making him the first teenager to lead the minors in hitting since Gil Torres did so in 1963. On October 5, 2017, MLB named Bichette Toronto's Minor League Hitter of the Year.

He appeared for the Double-A New Hampshire Fisher Cats in 2018. He played in 131 games and batted.286 with 95 runs (leading the Eastern League), 43 doubles (tied for the top of the league), 7 triples (tied for third), 11 home runs, 74 RBIs (tied for third), and 32 stolen bases (second). Bichette joined the Triple-A Buffalo Bisons in the 2019 season. He was struck by a pitch on the left hand and later discovered with a broken hand.

The Blue Jays selected Bichette's deal and promoted him to the major leagues on July 29, 2019. On the day, he struck his first major league double against Brad Keller of the Kansas City Royals on his second major league pitch he saw. Bichette had three hits against the Royals on July 31, the second of which was his first MLB home run. With a double against the Tampa Bay Rays on August 6, Bichette became the first MLB player to reach 10 extra base hits in his first nine major league games. Bichette scored another double on August 7, beating Yadier Molina and Derrek Lee as the only players in the live-ball era to reach double in eight consecutive games, beating Carlos Delgado's record of 2000. Bichette, who was in Toronto for the first time the following day, extended his doubles streak to nine games, establishing a new MLB record. In the first 11 games of his career, he also set a new MLB record in extra base hits, totaling 13. He is the first rookie with nine straight games since Ted Williams in 1939. During the 11-game streak, Bichette set franchise records with 20 hits and an 11-game streak with 1.316 OPS. He hit.311 with 11 home runs in 46 games on the season.

Bichette batted.301 with five home runs and 23 RBIs in 29 games with the 2020 Blue Jays.

For the first time in his career, Bichette was named an All-Star on July 4, 2021. Bichette had a slash line of.290/.529/.529 and had 15 home runs and 54 RBI at the time of his nomination. In a game against the Baltimore Orioles, Bichette had a 3-home run game on September 5, 2022. He also made history by partnering Vladimir Guerrero Jr. in which they were the first pair of teammates to play in a 3-home run game in the same season, and both have fathers who play in the MLB.

Yankees play on through 'unhealthy' conditions as smoke from Canadian wildfires covers the Bronx

www.dailymail.co.uk, June 7, 2023
As New York's air quality index reaches a 185 rating due to smoke overtaking the sky as a result of Canadian wildfires, the Yankees took the field in potentially volatile weather. On Tuesday, thick smoke from the north descended on New York City, with an orange glow hanging above the iconic skyline, covering the Statue of Liberty's famed monuments. The Bronx was no exception, as the sky over Yankee Stadium glowed a mix of orange and dark grey.

George Springer, the center fielder of the Blue Jays, was carted away after a frightening collision with Bo Bichette

www.dailymail.co.uk, October 9, 2022
The Blue Jays lost by center fielder George Springer collided with shortstop Bo Bichette in the eighth inning, allowing Seattle to plate three runs and tie the game on the evening. After an Adam Frazier double in the ninth scored catcher Cal Raleigh, Seattle will win 10-9. By seven runs earlier in the game, the Mariners had trailed by seven runs. J.P. Crawford made a blooper into shallow center field with two out and the bases loaded. Springer and Bichette were both tumultuous after the ball, but it landed as the two teams collided. Both three runners scored on the double, tied for ninth on the ninth, tying it 9. Bichette's right arm screamed Springer across the forehead, and it seemed as if it was the end of springer's. After being looked at by a coach, Bichette sped up and stayed in the game. As the cart was pulled onto the track, a woozy Springer was helped to his feet. As the cart left the field, the 33-year-old Springer, a four-time All-Star, thrilled the cheering crowd.
