In 2005, Roche selected students from all over Wexford for tutoring. They co-founded the first 'Novus' magazine,' which went on sale a few days after the company disbanded. These students, who were coached by Roche and his longtime companion Eoin Colfer (the author of the internationally acclaimed Artemis Fowl books), were the first in a long line of students under Roche's guidance.

Roche and Colfer worked with each student on their own short stories, assisting them in making improvements to better reflect the tales. Roche has expanded to assist more local writers since the humble beginnings of Novus. Two books of work have been published by this young group of writers associated with Roche. The Inked (2007) and Inked 2 (2008) are two of Roche's tutoring efforts.
