Bethany Hamilton Life

Bethany Meilani Hamilton-Dirks (born February 8, 1990) is an American professional surfer who survived a 2003 shark attack in which her left arm was bitten off but who later returned to competitive surfing.

She wrote about her involvement in the 2004 autobiography Soul Surfer: A True Story of Faith, Family, and Trying to Get back to the board.

Soul Surfer, a 2011 film, was released in April 2011.

She now has a new film called Unstoppable, in which she demonstrates her family's struggles and joys.

Hamilton has been playing in the WSL for a long time.

Alana Blanchard, her best friend, is also a pro surfer.

Early life

Hamilton was born on February 8, 1990, to Tom and Cheri Hamilton. Noah and Timothy are her two older brothers. She began surfing competitively at the age of three and gained her first sponsorship by age ten. Hamilton's mother, a housewife, was home-schooled from sixth grade to high school. Her father worked at a local cafe. She is a Christian.

Personal life

Hamilton met youth minister Adam Dirks through mutual acquaintances in early 2012. They became involved in 2013 when they were first introduced. The couple married on August 18, 2013 at an estate on Kauai's north shore, near where she grew up. On June 1, 2015, the couple had a boy. They had a second son on March 27, 2018. They had a third son on February 14, 2021, 2021. Bethany Hamilton's documentary "Unstoppable" chronicles their marriage. She now provides mentorship programs on faith, healing, personal health, and marriages in addition to being a professional surfer.
