Bérénice Bejo (French pronunciation: [beenis beno]; born 7 July 1976) and Peppy Miller in The Artist (2011) is a French-Argentine actress best known for her appearances in A Knight's Tale (2001) and The Artist (2011). Her appearance in the latter earned her a nomination for Best Supporting Actress and the César Award for Best Actress, as well as the César Award for Best Actress. She was named Best Actress at the Cannes Film Festival in 2013 and was nominated for a César for her role in The Past.
Personal life
Bejo was born in Buenos Aires, Argentina, and is the daughter of Argentine filmmaker Miguel Bejo and his partner Silvia, a lawyer. When she was three, her family immigrated to France, fleeing from Argentina's most recent civil-military dictatorship (1976-1983). Her father enrolled her in Les Enfants Terribles' theater.
She appeared in OSS 117: Nest of Spies, where she met director Michel Hazanavicius, who later married. Lucien and Gloria are their two children.
Career
