Benyamin Sueb (sometimes written Benyamin S. or Bang Ben) (March 5, 1939-July 5, 1995) was an Indonesian comedian, actor, and singer.

He has released 46 studio albums and appeared in more than 50 films.

He received two Citra Awards for Intan Berduri in 1973 and 1975, and Si Doel Anak Modern in 1975.

Early life

Benyamin was born in Kemayoran, Batavia, on March 5th, 1939. Suaeb and Aisyah were his parents. Sukirman was his father's real name, but Suaeb was changed to Suaeb because he lived in Batavia. Benyamin's father died at the age of two. Later on, he was allowed to be a street performer. He attended Bendungan Jago Elementary School in 1946. He went to Santo Yusuf Elementary School in Bandung, whether he was in fifth or sixth grade. He continued his education at Taman Madya Cikini Junior High School and then Taman Siswa Senior High School in Kemayoran after graduating. He later attended the Jakarta Academy of Banking for a year but did not finish. He had intended to become a pilot, but his mother had forbidden him; he eventually started working as a bread vendor, then as a bus conductor.

Personal life

Benyamin married Noni in 1959. He suggested her but her stepfather turned her down. He suggested to Noni's biological father after that and was accepted. Beib, his first son, was born a year ago. On July 1979, he divorced Noni and reconciled in the same year.

Benyamin debuted with the Melody Boys in the 1950s, performing calypso music, rhumba, cha-cha, jazz, blues, rock n roll, and some keroncong. "When I Fall in Love," "Blue Moon," and "Unchained Melody were among the band's most popular songs." They've also performed their own songs, including "Kisah Cinta" ("Love Story"), "Panon Hideung") ("Black Eye"), and "Si Neneng." He has performed jazz with Jack Lemmers and Bill Saragih. The Melody Boys changed their name to Melodi Ria in 1963. Many songs composed by him in the late 1960s included "Nonton Bioskop" ("Watching a Movie at the Theatre"), "Endengan" ("Drizzle"), "Endengan"), "It is What it is" ("It is What it is"), "Bing Slamet" ("Watching a Movie at the Theatre"), "Endengan"), and "Ada Saja" ("It is What it is" ("It is s He was influenced by John Mayall & The Bluesbreakers' blues and James Brown's soul from the late 1960s to the early 1970s. Benyamin Koboi Ngungsi (Benjamin the Refugee Cowboy, 1975; 1976), and Hippies Lokal, as a producer. Benyamin Biang Kerok (1972), Benyamin Brengsek (Benyamin the Asshole, 1973), and Benyamin Jatuh Cinta (Benyamin Falls in Love, 1976) were among his eleven films starring his name in the title.

After launching Betty Bencong Slebor (Betty, the Frightful Transvestite), he decided to stop producing his own films and shuttered his film company due to his incomes being less than production costs.
