Bellamy Young (born Amy Maria Young) is an American actress and singer best known for her role in ABC's Scandal's "Mellie" Grant (2012-2017).

Early life
Young was born in Asheville, North Carolina, and was adopted. Since there was another Amy Young registered, she opted for the Screen Actors Guild, and Bellamy was a nodoe to her late father's best friend, Bill, who had been helping raise her after her father died.
She graduated from Asheville School in 1987. She attended Yale University, majoring in Physics but later studying English and Theatre, and graduating in 1991. Young spent a summer at the British American Drama Academy in England.
Personal life
Young has been vegan since 1988, and he was active in a PETA campaign titled "Being Vegan Keeps Me Young." Young, a long-supporter of shelter adoption, appeared in two television commercials for The Humane Society of the United States: 'The Shelter Pet Project' in 2015 and 'Honestly' in 2016.

Career
Young began her acting career in theatre. She made her Broadway debut as Mary in The Life's original cast in 1997. Young has appeared in Stephen Sondheim's musical Merrily We Roll Along (1994), and Randy Newman's Faust (1995–1996). Young made her television debut in 1995 as Dr. Courtney Evans, a recurring role on the NBC daytime soap opera Another World. In 1997 and 1998, she appeared on Law & Order in two different roles. She made her film debut in 1999 with a small role in the crime drama Black and White, and later co-starred in several independent films. She began appearing on a variety of television dramas and comedies in the early 2000s, including The Drew Carey Show, The X Files, Frasier, The West Wing, Grey's Anatomy, Private Practice, Two and a Half Men, Drop Dead Diva, and Castle. Young appeared on television shows from 2000 to 2011.
In 2003, Young was a regular cast member of the USA Network series Peacemakers. After one season of nine episodes, the show was cancelled.
