The applicants are determined on a case-by-case basis, but the regulations state that if violence is used to enforce dress code traditions, refugee status may be appropriate. An Iranian woman was chastised by state police for refusing to wear a hijab while walking through the streets in January.

AYAAN HIRSI ALI: There are people condemning Israel's wretchedness - both locally and explicitly supporting the perpetrators. The world has been emboldened by this tragedy, and Jews have been blamed yet again for their own massacre. And I am not particularly surprised.
