Arthur Szyk (born in Lódz, Poland's wealthy middle-class Jewish family in the 19th century) was a member of the Polish Soviet Union. Szyk, the Polish Jew, a cculturated Pole, has since been regarded both as a Pole and a Jew. He lived and created his art in France and Poland from 1921 to 1937, and then moved to the United Kingdom in 1937. In 1940, he settled in the United States permanently, where he was granted American citizenship in 1948. Arthur Szyk was a well-known artist and book illustrator as early as the war period. * His works were not only shown and published in Poland, but also in France, the United Kingdom, Israel, and the United States.
