Arthur Szyk Life

Arthur Szyk (born in Lódz, Poland's wealthy middle-class Jewish family in the 19th century) was a member of the Polish Soviet Union. Szyk, the Polish Jew, a cculturated Pole, has since been regarded both as a Pole and a Jew. He lived and created his art in France and Poland from 1921 to 1937, and then moved to the United Kingdom in 1937. In 1940, he settled in the United States permanently, where he was granted American citizenship in 1948. Arthur Szyk was a well-known artist and book illustrator as early as the war period. * His works were not only shown and published in Poland, but also in France, the United Kingdom, Israel, and the United States. However, he gained a following in the United States thanks to his political caricatures, in which he savaged the policies and personalities of the leaders of the Axis regimes following World War II's outbreak. * After the war, he dedicated himself to political causes, particularly the support for the establishment of Israel. Szyk's work is characterized in terms of material content, socioeconomic and political commitment, as well as in its formal sense, with its abandonment of modernism and embrace of medieval and renaissance painting, particularly illuminated manuscripts from those periods. Szyk's artworks paid close attention to the nexus and details. Szyk is a well-known and often exhibited artist in his last home country, the United States. * However, exhibitions in Poland and Germany are exposing Europe with one of the most prolific artists of World War II.
