MAN UNITED CONFIDENTIAL: 'Scumbags' accused of posing as disabled fans, Erik ten Hag could easily settle back into Amsterdam life if he returned to Ajax... and what's the truth about his injury claims?

www.dailymail.co.uk, April 30, 2024
Manchester United have received allegations that 'scumbag' fans are posing as disabled supporters to gain access to away matches this season. The club are given dedicated wheelchair spaces for every away fixture but Chas Banks, secretary of the Manchester United Disabled Supporters' Association, told the latest meeting of the Fans' Forum there has been 'widespread misuse' of these tickets by a group of disabled fans. These have either been passed on to non-disabled supporters directly or through a third party in breach of United's ticket rules.

Arsenal of years gone by would have cracked, but Mikel Arteta's side served notice to Man City that they will fight them all the way and won't lose their nerve after 3-2 Spurs win, writes OLIVER HOLT

www.dailymail.co.uk, April 28, 2024
OLIVER HOLT AT THE TOTTENHAM HOTSPUR STADIUM: Sunday, it turns out, was St Totteringham's Day, the day when Arsenal fans celebrate the moment when they are mathematically guaranteed to finish above Tottenham Hotspur in the league. There have been times, particularly during the dog days of Arsene Wenger's reign at the club, when triumph had given way to stagnation and decline, when St Totteringham's Day was the highlight of the year for Arsenal supporters, a consolation at the end of a season of disappointment. But on Sunday, for the 3000 deliriously happy Arsenal supporters crammed into a corner of the steepling Tottenham Hotspur Stadium to witness a dramatic 3-2 triumph over Spurs, St Totteringham's Day was an afterthought. St Totteringham's Day was the very least of it.

Inside Arsenal's wild celebrations after sealing the Premier League title at White Hart Lane 20 years ago ahead of crucial North London Derby clash with Tottenham

www.dailymail.co.uk, April 28, 2024
This Sunday, Arsenal will travel across the Seven Sisters Road to Tottenham and hash out one of the most bitter, heated rivalries in English football - the North London Derby.  It's the first game fans pick out when the fixtures are released, the most in-demand tickets on the market, and undoubtedly the most stressful days of any supporter's season.  The stakes are just that much higher; defeats are all the more painful, every blunder and mistake will be sent your way for the next six months by rival fans. But the victories are celebrated like a Cup Final and every scrap of joy eked out until the next meeting.

The real AP McCoy at 50! Legendary jockey shares tales of fortune tellers, broken bones and his love for Arsenal as he approaches his landmark birthday

www.dailymail.co.uk, April 28, 2024
EXCLUSIVE INTERVIEW BY DOMINIC KING: The numbers and anecdotes that will boggle your mind will arrive in due course but first Sir Anthony McCoy wants to explain his apprehension. A landmark birthday is approaching - he'll be 50 next Saturday - and saying the number out loud leads to a grimace. In his head, he feels no different to the young man from Moneyglass in County Antrim who arrived on these shores aged 20 in August 1994, driving "my little Peugeot 205" into Toby Balding's yard burning with dreams and desire. McCoy could control almost everything in his life, from championship races to the kind of pain that would make most of us faint, but not the ageing process. Nor will he be able to shape events at the Tottenham Stadium this afternoon, something that will leave this Arsenal devotee tormented.

He played one game for Tottenham EVER and it came against Arsenal in the north London derby. Spurs ended up losing 4-1 - can you guess who he is?

www.dailymail.co.uk, April 27, 2024
Sunday's north London derby promises to be one of the biggest in recent memory with both clubs still having so much left to play for. As if the rivalry alone isn't enough, Arsenal are still firmly in the hunt for their first league title in 20 years, while Tottenham are hoping to pip Aston Villa to the fourth and final Champions League spot. It is set to be a red-hot atmosphere at the Tottenham Hotspur Stadium, and could come down to which of the two young teams can keep their heads under pressure.

There were certain topics about how they won it and the later stages,' said Arteta.

www.dailymail.co.uk, April 24, 2024
Football fans were treated to the return of Cesc Fabregas to a London pitch on Monday night. On the eve of his two former Premier League clubs locking horns at the Emirates, the legendary midfielder lent his talents to a five-a-side roster at Westway Sports Centre. 'I wouldn't say it's nerves,' Fabregas joked. Nor would you expect him to be. The 36-year-old called time on his illustrious 20-year-long playing career in July 2023 having won, among other things, two Premier League titles, two European Championships , a Champions League title, and a World Cup.

John Terry takes aim at Arsenal's Invincibles and says they 'drew an awful lot of games' as Chelsea legend claims his club's season of conceding just 15 goals was 'as good as' their unbeaten year

www.dailymail.co.uk, April 22, 2024
John Terry has claimed that his Chelsea side's feat of conceding only 15 goals in the 2004-05 season was just as impressive as when Arsenal went a whole campaign unbeaten the previous year.  Terry was voted into the Premier League Hall of Fame on Monday, alongside Manchester United legend Andy Cole, where he joins former team-mate Ashley Cole for inductees in 2024.  In fact, he also finds a number of the Gunners' Invincible icons in the shape of Thierry Henry, Dennis Bergkamp, Patrick Vieira, Arsene Wenger and of course Cole, who swapped north London for the west of the city not long after.

The Premier League of Nations! The English top-flight has featured players from 126 countries, with Ireland and Spain among the higher contributors... but which nation leads the way in 2023-24?

www.dailymail.co.uk, April 17, 2024
The Premier League is considered the greatest division in the world and for good reason, but one the most impressive things about the English top-tier is the level of diversity.  Some 126 nations from around the world have been represented at one point during the 31 years that the league has been running, showcasing some of the best talent the game has to offer.  This season alone, there are 63 nations represented in the Premier League aside from England, with France leading the way with 31 players while the likes of Estonia and Gabon have just one representative in 2023-24.

Legendary ex-Arsenal manager Arsene Wenger picks out result that could cost the Gunners the Premier League title... and it's NOT their home defeat by Aston Villa

www.dailymail.co.uk, April 17, 2024
Former Arsenal manager Arsene Wenger believes one result could come back to haunt the Gunners this season in their pursuit of their first Premier League title in two decades. Mikel Arteta's men relinquished top spot over the weekend after losing 2-0 at home to Aston Villa, with late goals from Leon Bailey and Ollie Watkins handing Arsenal their first league defeat in 2024. Defending champions Manchester City are now in the ascendancy in the title race having moved two points clear of Arsenal and Liverpool - who were also beaten 1-0 by Crystal Palace on Sunday.

The reason why away goals rule was scrapped by UEFA in 2021 - as Arsenal, Bayern Munich, Real Madrid and Man City play out thrilling draws... but how would the old regulation impact this season's Champions League games?

www.dailymail.co.uk, April 10, 2024
The away goals rule has not been used in European tournaments since the 2021-22 season after UEFA announced that they would be abolishing the regulation that had been an intrinsic part of European tournaments since the 1960s. The regulation would certainly have some significance following Tuesday's opening round of Champions League quarter-final matches if it was still in place, with Arsenal holding Bayern Munich to a 2-2 draw at the Emirates, while Manchester City rallied to secure a 3-3 draw at the Bernabeu against Real Madrid.  Prior to 2021, it would mean that Arsenal would travel to the Allianz Arena in their second fixture and would need to attack against the Bundesliga Champions. City, meanwhile, would perhaps be more comfortable in their return leg against Madrid, should that game end in a draw - but anything can happen in football, right?

A Cristiano Ronaldo team-mate, Bayer Leverkusen's unlikely talisman, and a Sky Sports pundit... seven years after 10-2 humbling by Bayern Munich, where are the Arsenal players now?

www.dailymail.co.uk, April 9, 2024
Back in 2017, Arsenal were dumped out of the Champions League after a brutal 10-2 aggregate defeat to German giants Bayern Munich.  The Gunners, managed by historic manager Arsene Wenger, fell to consecutive 5-1 defeats to the Bavarian side, which spelled the end of their European campaign.  Fast forward to the present day and the Gunners are once again facing their German rivals in Europe's most elite competition - but the scenario couldn't be more contrasting.

Mikel Arteta reveals that becoming Arsenal boss was one of his life's best days, as well as the positive influence that Arsene Wenger and Pep Guardiola had on his career

www.dailymail.co.uk, April 8, 2024
Mikel Arteta has reported that being Arsenal boss was one of his life's best days. Arteta was appointed as Arsenal's manager in December 2019 and guided the Gunners to glory in the FA Cup in 2020. Arsenal endured some difficult times but are now flourishing and currently in first place in the Premier League, while the Champions League faces Bayern Munich in the quarter finals.

Arsenal manager Mikel Arteta has ordered Arsenal to "create" their own Invincibles' aura ahead of a critical trip to Brighton, where the Gunners' manager believes that the championship match will be decided "down to the last game of the season."

www.dailymail.co.uk, April 5, 2024
ISAAN KHAN: Mikel Arteta says his team is trying to resurrect the Invincibles' spirit in the league's first season since the unbeaten team of 20 years ago. Chelsea beat Luton 2-0 on Wednesday, taking them to ten league games unbeaten, and Arteta, who was thumping 7-0 by the reigning champions while at Everton in May 2005, believes his team will strike fear into opponents as well as the teams of Arsene Wenger's heyday. "I've been in the tunnel playing in a different shirt and admiring the Invincibles, and I had the sense that tonight would be really tough," Arteta said, ahead of Brighton's 5.30 p.m. kick-off on Saturday.

Mikel Arteta's Arsenal revolution: From a 'broken club' to a squad's''smarter than Pep's' by way of silence... and the beating of tennis players

www.dailymail.co.uk, March 29, 2024
Mikel Arteta and his entourage arrived in the Emirates on Monday evening in 2019, it was raining and it was cold. Manchester City's resignation had been difficult. Arsenal had arrived at Arteta's house in the well-to-do Manchester suburb of Didsbury for evening talks, but not first. A sense of injustice that had long since been banished but which had stung at the time was present in the north-west. Well, there was some tension in the air as Arsenal appointed their new manager. Arteta, a 37-year-old boy, had been wrestling with some questions over whether he was even ready for the move. He had been assistant to Pep Guardiola at City. This was different. This was a big deal. Arsenal was a mess. Arsenal were not supporters and hadn't been for years, and they were not around to lose. Arsene Wenger had lost his way and lost his judgement. Unai Emery tried to turn his back on Arsenal's glorious past but was unavoidable because of the here and now's brutality, which threatens to smack him in the face. He had been in prison for 18 months. So here's Arteta. A former Arsenal captain is back at the Emirates. It's return to the United States.

Jamie Carragher names Jurgen Klopp and Pep Guardiola as the Liverpool legend's highest-ever boss, though Arsene Wenger prefers José Mourinho over Arsene Wenger

www.dailymail.co.uk, March 28, 2024
When naming football's top-ever boss, Jamie Carragher snubbed both Jurgen Klopp and Pep Guardiola, but reserved special praise for a legendary Barcelona head coach. Thierry Henry of Sky Sports hosted a game of 'Winner stays on' with Carragher first naming Fabio Capello as a more effective coach than former Liverpool Champions League champion Rafa Benitez.

Arsenal may take the title against Man City, Man United's revenge at Man United will be out for revenge, and there is a potential relegation six-pointer on the final day... the ten most crucial games in the Premier League remain

www.dailymail.co.uk, March 27, 2024
The Premier League returns to action this weekend, with plenty to be decided over the final weeks of the season. Arsenal, Liverpool, and Manchester City are only one point apart in the table, with the Gunners heading to the Etihad for a huge game this weekend. It's a lot more complicated at the other end of the standings. Everton has been docked six points - and may face a second term if they are to be convicted - but Nottingham Forest has appealed a four-point deduction.

Cesc Fabregas praises 'brave' Arsenal boss Mikel Arteta for 'taking away all the toxicity' at his former club that was 'hurting the players'

www.dailymail.co.uk, March 22, 2024
Arsenal manager Mikel Arteta, according to Cesc Fabregas, deserved a lot of praise for completely changing the atmosphere at his former club. Fabregas owed to his time with the Gunners but he departed as the club began to drift away from being champions and fan revolts began to grow. Arsenal fanbase members in the years that followed saw a lot of fragmentation and mistrust, with Arsene Wenger's resignation and Unai Emery's struggle to turn it around.

As a former Arsenal player admits he was dreading his talk with ex-Gunners manager Jack Wilshere during his playing career, he reveals how Arsene Wenger responded to his off-field antics during his playing career

www.dailymail.co.uk, March 21, 2024
Jack Wilshere has told how Arsene Wenger reacted to his off-field antics during his playing career, including when he was caught smoking a cigarette in London. Images of England actors Wilshere and Joe Hart misbehaving at a pool party in Las Vegas emerged only after the World Cup was over. Wilshere came under intense scrutiny after photos of him smoking a cigarette at the event. At the time, the picture was used on a number of back pages.

CHRIS WHEELER recalls Manchester United's past glory after their 3-2 victory over Liverpool... but does he agree with his picks?

www.dailymail.co.uk, March 18, 2024
CHRIS WHEELER: Old Trafford has seen some classic games in recent times, and Manchester United's dramatic FA Cup quarter-final victory over Liverpool on Sunday was up there with the best of them. United's cameback to defeat their bitter rivals 4-3, with a 121st-minute goal from Amad Diallo, who was running late in normal time and again in extra-time. I was screaming and I couldn't hear my voice, so you get a sense of what the noise was like for us on the pitch,' said captain Bruno Fernandes afterwards.'
