BOO Lionel Messi, a PSG fan, prior to losing to Rennes

www.dailymail.co.uk, March 20, 2023
Before the French league leaders' home loss to Rennes on Sunday, Lionel Messi was booed by dissatisfied Paris Saint-Germain supporters. Goals from Karl Toko Ekambi and Arnaud Kalimuendo put the PSG's all-star team through their defeat, but fans vented their displeasure with the World Cup winner's defection from Bayern Munich earlier this week. As Messi's name was read out and shown on the screen before the game, audible boos were heard directed at the 35-year-old. Messi, who joined the club in 2021, was considered the final piece in the puzzle to see PSG finally land in the Champions League. However, with Messi's ouster and his absence from service at the end of the campaign, it may have been the Argentinian's last chance to help deliver the coveted trophy.

PSG 0-2 Rennes: Christophe Galtier's side miss the chance to extend their lead at the top of Ligue 1

Arnaud Kalimuendo scored against his boyhood team as the head of Paris Saint-Germain's first home loss in the French league this season. At the Parc des Princes, PSG's 35-match undefeated run in the league came to an end. Kalimuendo, 21, joined PSG's youth system when he was 9 years old and signed with Rennes last summer, looking for more playing time away from PSG's armada. Kalimuendo was under PSG's control until 2024, but he spent the next two seasons on loan at Lens.
