Comment by DAILY MAIL: Tories must be more brave in these culture wars

Comment by DAILY MAIL: Sir Keir Starmer's much-anticipated oration of civil society yesterday was a predictable blend of pomposity and platitudes. It was long on rhetoric but devoid of substance straight out of Blairite's playbook. New social contract, new look, a new direction, and a society of service are all about service, more caring, more compassion, etc. blah, blah, blah blah. But a section in this flat souffle of a speech highlighted what would unquestionably be one of the main division lines between Labour and Conservatives in the general election: the culture wars. This clash of ideologies was of Tories' own initiative, according to Sir Keir, who was determined on 'demonizing' awakened. If only! Many people believe they have been far too timid. Voice minorities, which defame our culture, decry our past, and threaten anyone who dares to challenge them are increasingly gripping our institutions, seats of education, and charities in the United Kingdom are increasingly gripped by vocal minorities who defame our history, decry our past, and threaten to 'cancel' anyone who dares to challenge them. Not the government, but the people started this war.

Private school parents say Labour's planned VAT raid on fees could force them to work longer hours and take on second jobs

Parents claim that if Labour's VAT raid on private school tuition fees would force them to work longer hours and take on second jobs. It comes as tens of thousands of people have pledged their help for a drive against Sir Keir Starmer's proposal to charge 20% VAT on fees. They are urging the party to investigate the effect that the policy will have on hardworking parents. Some people have started looking for second jobs, while others fear that increasing fees will push them into the state industry, which may have to be revealed. It is spearheaded by Tony Perry, an NHS data analyst who started the campaign alongside hundreds of parents at LVS Ascot, an independent day and boarding school in Berkshire, yesterday.
