Daphne Iley, the former Crufts champion, has been fined more than £1,000 after her dogs mauled her neighbor on a walk, leaving him injured and afraid for his life. When they pounced on Anthony Dawson (not shown), who was walking her daughter's Jack Russell-Chihua cross, Iley, 78, took the lead in Newcastle. As he attempted to Coco during the November 2021 assault, Mr Dawson was left with cuts to his arm and hand. Iley, a dog owner from Fawdon, Newcastle, pleaded not guilty to dangerously out of control in a public place. However, she was found guilty in Newcastle Magistrates' Court after a deliberation of about 25 minutes. As a result, she was fined over £1,000, which included a £200 settlement to Mr Dawson. While out walking her dogs, she was also instructed not to exceed three children, and all must be kept on a lead.
