In June 2022, Rex Heuermann, 59, appeared on Google Maps talking with an unidentified woman near his Midtown Manhattan office. He seemed to be wearing the same light blue shirt he wore in surveillance photos released by the police and carried the same bag he wore when he was arrested. Heuermann is now charged with the murders of three women whose bodies were discovered in burlap sacks on Long Island's Gilgo Beach, and police say they intend to indict him in a fourth.

Heuermann, 59, was arrested outside his midtown Manhattan office on Thursday night. Cops continue to find evidence from his home in Massapequa Park, Long Island. He has been charged with the murders of Megan Waterman, Melissa Barthelemy, and Amber Costello, but police also charged him with the murder of Maun Brainard-Barnes, a fourth woman discovered dead on Gilgo Beach in 2010. Although all of the women convicted of murder were strangled, Suffolk County Police officers are worried that if they didn't take him off the streets, they would go back to strike again.
