Ann Meyers Drysdale (born Ann Elizabeth Meyers, 1955) is a retired American basketball player and sportscaster.

She was a standout in high school, college, the Olympic Games, international tournaments, and professional competitions. Meyers was the first student to be a member of the United States national team while still in high school.

At UCLA, she was the first woman to be admitted to a four-year athletic scholarship for college.

(1979) she was also the second woman to commit to a National Basketball Association team, the Indiana Pacers.

Lusia "Lucy" Harris-Stewart, the first woman to sign with an NBA team in 1977, was born in Huntington Beach, California.

She was president and general manager for the WNBA's Phoenix Mercury as well as a vice president of the Phoenix Suns.

She is currently vice president of the Phoenix Mercury and a color analyst for the Phoenix Suns television broadcasts.

She spent more than 26 years as a network television sports analyst for TNT, ESPN, CBS, and NBC.

Meyers is a Board Member for the Lott IMPACT Trophy, which is named after Pro Football Hall of Fame defensive back Ronnie Lott, and is awarded annually to College football's Defensive IMPACT Player of the Year.

Early life

Meyers was born on March 26, 1955, the sixth of Patricia and Bob Meyers' 11 children. Her father volunteered for Marquette University and later for the Shooting Stars, a pro team in Milwaukee, Wisconsin. Dave, one of her brothers, was an All-American at UCLA and went on to play for the Milwaukee Bucks.

Broadcasting career

Meyers has been the women's basketball analyst at the Summer Olympics since NBC's coverage of the 2000 Sydney Olympics for NBC Sports. In 1993, she was offered a job to broadcast the Chicago Bulls games, but she turned down due to family concerns.

She served as an analyst on ESPN's coverage of the WNBA and before working for NBC Sports full time as the nation's leading WNBA analyst from 1997 to 2002. Meyers appeared on "Hoop-It-Up" television shows in 1994 and 1995. She has been an ESPN analyst for numerous sporting events, both men's and women's NCAA basketball games, since 1983.

She also worked as a color analyst for the Indiana Pacers, making her the first woman to do game analysis for the team. She resigned as the color analyst from the Phoenix Suns broadcasting team on July 11, 2018.

Meyers helped the United States win silver medal at the 1976 Olympic Games in Montreal, as women's basketball made its Olympic debut, and she returned eight years later as an announcer for ABC Sports at the 1984 Summer Olympics in Los Angeles. She has covered a variety of sports for major television networks in the United States, including the 1986, 1990, 1994 Goodwill Games, men's and women's college basketball, and NCAA softball and volleyball.

She joined the Phoenix Suns as a color analyst in 2012.
