Career
Aneeka had hoped to record an album in Venezuela but was unsuccessful. She discovered willing investors in Mexico, and after seven years of being in various music clubs, she produced an album that was never released. In 2013, Ettore Grenci released Ni Antes, Ni Después (Not Before, Not After), her first album (Not Before, Nor After). It's a blend of Pop, R&B, and funk music. Ni Antes, Ni Después, had ten songs written by Mexican Latin Grammy Award winner Mónica Vélez, whose songs explore topics such as jealousy, infidelity, revenge, sex, and unity. Anneka and her producer Grenci's melodies were pre-produced in Mexico, with melodies by Anneka and her producer Grenci. It was shot at the Sonic Ranch studio in El Paso, Texas. "Today, I see my dream crystallized, and it was worth the sacrifice of being far from my family and having lived through my teens quickly," Aneeka wrote on the album. "I was born to do this." Anneka has said that Mariah Carey, Whitney Houston, and Aretha Franklin are among her musical influences. She remarked that she attempted to include their musical styles on the album, blending them with pop music.
"Ojo por Ojo"; "Sin Combustible"; and "Demasiado Tarde" were among Ni Antes, Ni Después' three singles. Indrani Pal-Chaudhuri, a photographer and fashion designer, created "Ojo Por Ojo"'s music video. "Sin Combustible" was a hit in Mexico as the 14th highest-performing single of 2013, ranking second in the airplay rankings. The track reached its high point in the Billboard Tropical Songs chart at number 24. Aneeka was nominated for Best New Artist and performed at the Latin Grammy Awards in 2014. Mariana Vega, a Venezuelan singer, was disqualified from her dueling to her. Aneeka was nominated for the Lo Nuestro Awards for Young Artist of the Year.
