Britain will need an Israel-style 'Iron Dome' system in the future because threats of missile and drone attacks will 'probably increase', armed forces chief warns

www.dailymail.co.uk, April 25, 2024
Admiral Sir Tony Radakin said 'live conversations' were underway' about boosting Britain's defences - although he noted that Israel's situation was 'very different' and being a member of NATO offered protection. Asked if an 'Iron Dome' was needed, Admiral Sir Tony told LBC's Tonight with Andrew Marr: 'That will be needed in the future, that is a live conversation.' Seen here is an animation showing how the Iron Dome system works.

Prince Philip, a senseless, self-critical, and shy man, belied his brusque and hawkish appearance. We commemorate a legendary figure whose death marked the end of an age on the anniversary of his burial

www.dailymail.co.uk, April 8, 2024
ANDREW MARR: The Duke of Edinburgh, seen from the outside, was a living model of the British establishment - he was always present at all state ceremonial functions, Trooping the Colour, and Parliament's openings. This, no doubt, is how millions of people will recall him. And yet, it nonetheless misunderstands him completely. It's impossible to get anywhere near the rare, shy, self-critical, and often radical figure that he was. During a 1984 tour of Canada, the Duke of Edinburgh was always an outsider (pictured right, on duty). All the uniforms, medals, awards, nomination, honors, and adulation have never really concealed this information. The main blow when he first got to Consort was that he never had any apparatus or system to properly utilize his energies and intelligence. However, he may have been a potentiator of change and chivvying at the center of the British state. He had the right ideas; new ways to involve British youth; new enthusiasms about everything from energy conservation to environmentalism; a persistent curiosity coupled with a squeamish attitude. He chaired committees. He gave speeches. He flew aircraft, painted pictures (left, in 1969), and wrote books. However, he never had his hands on the levers of real power.

'Our seaside towns are full of immigrants': Sex Pistol John Lydon claims immigration has created 'division' in Britain because 'so many people with a different point of view' are 'not going to adapt to yours'

www.dailymail.co.uk, March 8, 2024
During an interview with Andrew Marr about his forthcoming tour, John (left and right) was best known by his stage name Johnny Rotten. Brighton, Folkestone, and Exeter, among the artist's seaside towns he will visit, are 'full of prospective immigrants.' "If you import so many people from a completely different perspective, they're not going to adapt to yours, so they're going to remain and bring the problems that they are allegedly escaping from."

Northern Ireland's new first minister says Hamas will be a 'future partner for peace' in the Middle East as she draws comparisons with 'dialogue' held between republicans and the British government

www.dailymail.co.uk, February 10, 2024
In an LBC interview with Andrew Marr, Sinn Fein vice president Michelle O'Neill, who became the first nationalist first minister last week, denied the allegations. She said that the example of the Northern Ireland peace process demonstrated how crucial dialogue was to ending the conflict. The 47-year-old, whose father and two cousins were IRA members, called for a ceasefire and referred to Gaza as a "graveyard for children."

Mayor Andy Burnham has slammed Keir Starmer for a year green investment scheme, saying that the leader should'stick to his guns' and plough money into the North

www.dailymail.co.uk, January 9, 2024
After the opposition leader said he'll decrease the investment due to the poor financial picture he would inherit if he were to become prime minister, Gordon Brown-era minister told Sir Keir to'stick to your guns.' Mr Burnham, who has been consistently linked to national politics and a bid for prime minister, has told LBCs Tonight. The investment could help the North reindustrialize and make the region a 'clean energy superpower.' 'I would certainly say to the party, stick to your guns, and you're on the right track,' he said to Andrew Marr on Tonight.' It's about creating future wealth.' This is not investment, this is investment in the future, investment in new industries, construction of better homes for our residents, and better transportation.'

The exact nature of the assault was not known by police, but officers announced that the suspected offence occurred inside the bar.

Residents in Primrose Hill, England's north side, are compared to the'spaceship crash landing.'

Developers want to build a new engine room of ventilation machines, which locals believe would bring house prices down and ruin the celebrity-filled enclave in north London. Rich people are concerned that a constant nervous hum from the building of Utopia Village, a home to independent businesses, could cause them to go 'completely mad.' Several celebrities, including broadcaster Andrew Marr, FA chief Lord Triesman, and Sunday Times writer Hadley Freeman, have written to council planning chiefs against the proposals. 'It's absolutely horrible,' one resident told MailOnline: "It's absolutely terrible." There are a slew of reasons why we are against it. The commotion would be unbelievable.'

www.dailymail.co.uk, December 12, 2023
When speaking to LBC last night about unlawful immigration while giving a masterclass in layering, former Cabinet minister Sir Geoffrey Cox sparked eyebrows. Last night, Sir Geoffrey, the former attorney general under Theresa May and Boris Johnson, popped in to speak with Andrew Marr as part of a moderates campaign in favor of the new Rwanda flights law. PETER HITCHENS: With Left-wing propaganda, the BBC hoses us down. So if it wants to keep the license fee, here's what it needs to do

www.dailymail.co.uk, December 6, 2023
PETER HITCHENS: There is a simple answer to the BBC's request for another increase in its licence fee. If it won't even try to be impartial, freeze the fee, which will then fall rapidly due to inflation. Some may argue that seeking restrictions on another portion of the Fourth Estate is wrong for one part of the media. However, this is to miss the point. Newspapers have no evidence that they are biased. Newspapers publish leading papers in which they state strong views on the day's biggest topics, with journalists openly taking sides for all to see. The BBC is in effect the complete opposite of a Fleet Street paper. On pain of jail, the organisation is coerced to perform. It has opinions, but it doesn't pretend not to. It is recruited almost entirely from a segment of society that shares these beliefs.

Mr Marr asked about a two-state solution, saying: 'You don't think that after what happened on October 7 a two-state solution is any longer possible?' 'It's not possible,' Ms Hotovely replied.

The Scottish Child Abuse Inquiry (SCAI) said earlier this year that Loretto students had been "exposed to sexual, physical, and emotional abuse."

HARDCASTLE: Andrew Marr defames Queen Elizabeth II's wisdom as a child, because she never watched The Crown

www.dailymail.co.uk, November 7, 2023
Andrew Marr has debunk the assumption that the late Queen did not watch The Crown. Marr recalls a Buckingham Palace dinner where he was told by an unidentified producer of the Netflix series that in an interview with HM and her husband Philip that the project had been 'complete waste' and that he had never tuned in. "But the Queen," Marr said in an el'tense moment, 'then patiently admitted that she had been monitoring it,' and that it had prompted her to reflect on her sister Margaret's behaviour.' 'You will be able to be aware of it if millions of people around the world understand and judge your life in a certain way,' Marr said.

According to veteran broadcaster Andrew Marr, the Crown is a 'historical debate' that is guilty of 'hostile manipulation' of the truth, but it is as 'insignificant' as Shakespeare in influencing our understanding of the monarchy

www.dailymail.co.uk, November 5, 2023
The Netflix showdown was accused of a 'definite degree of hostile manipulation' of the historical truths as well as using a dramatic licence, according to the former BBC presenter (left). Despite the inaccuracies, the drama had provided a 'huge and virtuous re-education' for viewers of portions of British history that had previously been virtually forgotten, according to the actor. Even the Prince Family's collection had been a 'great gift,' he said. Marr, 65, was barred from a BBC obituary of the Queen after she died in 2022 and joined rival LBC. He had been working on upgrading the tribute program for years.

Chanting 'jihad' is a threat to British democracy, Sunak says as Met police officers are 'frustrated' by inability to make arrests at pro-Palestinian protest

www.dailymail.co.uk, October 24, 2023
Thousands of protesters took to the streets in London over the weekend, but Prime Minister Theresa May said Scotland Yard would be given 'clarity' about officers' powers. Mr Sunak was speaking to MPs in the Commons yesterday, despite Metropolitan Police Sir Mark Rowley's scathing concern for officers not arresting terrorists at pro-Palestinian demonstrations attended by 100,000 protesters on Saturday. It comes after officers said they were left "frustled" at not being able to intervene after people called for jihad during a rally. With the 'apparent refusal of the Metropolitan Police to do anything about it,' making the situation worse, Tory MP Gareth Bacon said that British Jews were increasingly feeling unsafe in their own country.

The former BBC News political editor is the front runner in the fight to replace Huw Edwards' resignation ahead of a forthcoming election next year, but insiders say there is no 'obvious successor' for the high-profile position. Ms Kuenssberg, a presenter on BBC's Sunday Politics, has been in this position since September, when she took over Andrew Marr's slot. Mr Edwards, 62, is still earning his estimated £435,000 a year after being suspended from air following charges that he paid a young individual for sexually explicit photos, according to reports published in the Sun.

ANDREW NEIL reveals: How I mastered the art of the political interview

www.dailymail.co.uk, June 4, 2023
ANDREW NEIL: Andrew Neil, 74, (left) a columnist for Mail and Telegraph, has spent nearly three decades interviewing politicians on television. Neil is the most frightening inquisitor of his time, according to the author of a new book on the art of the political interview. If you have any dirt on me, you're f***ed,' TV presenter Rob Burley, who worked with some of the best names in the industry, including Jonathan Dimbleby, Jeremy Paxman, Emily Maitlis and Andrew Marr, as well as Neil, said: 'If he has any dirt on you.'
