Andres "Dres" Titus (born March 18, 1967) is an American hip hop musician.

He is best known for his role as the lead rapper of the alternative hip hop band Black Sheep before releasing as a solo artist.

Personal life

Dres was raised in Queens, NY, and the Bland House (commonly known as "The Bland") in the Flushing section of Queens, NY. His family later moved to North Carolina.

Dres is the father of Honor Titus, the singer of the punk-rock band Cerebral Ballzy.

Dres is not related to Chi Ali in any way.

Dres is of African American and Puerto Rican descent.

Career

Dres formed Black Sheep in 1989 with Mista Lawnge. They first appeared together on De La Soul's 1991 album De La Soul Is Dead. On the track "Fanatic of the B Word," Dres was included. A Wolf in Sheep's Clothing was released in 1991 and featured the singles "Flavor of the Month," "The Choice Is Yours," "Strobelite Honey," and "Similak Child." Non-Fiction, Dres, and Mista Lawnge split up and started independent projects due to the lackluster sales of their second album.

Dres the Black Sheep was credited as Dr. Dres the Black Sheep, and Dres released Sure Shot Redemption, a solo album in 1999. Black Sheep reunited and recorded the EP, Redlight, Greenlight, and the film's title track "Once in the Life" in 2000. Dres' album 8WM/Novakane was released in 2006 as their second solo album. Dres released an EP from the Black Pool of Genius: The Prelude in 2009, a preview for his solo album From the Black Pool of Genius, which was released in June 2010.
