The Championship promotion race is in full swing with Ipswich Town, Leicester City, Leeds United and Southampton, all in the hunt of a return to the Premier League via a top two finish. It certainly marks a considerable difference from mid February when Leicester were running away with the league, eight points clear of Leeds, 14 from Southampton and 18 ahead of Ipswich Town. Yet, just five points cover Ipswich in first to Southampton in fourth. Leicester are one point below Ipswich with a game-in-hand, and could go top with a draw in Saturday's early kick-off against West Brom. 

The fifth-placed West Bromwich Albion faces mid-table side Bristol City at The Hawthorns today in what is arguably the game of the round in the Championship. With Carlos Corberan's side losing their 19th game of the season, the Baggies are heavily favored to articulate their 'favourites' tag and get the job done at home. Bristol City, on the other hand, defeated Swansea last time out and became 19/5 underdogs, making it two victories in a row.

The West Midlands-based side currently sits fifth in the Championship table and has been particularly strong under new manager Carlos Corberan. According to Telegraph Sport, Florida entrepreneur Shilen Patel is expected to inherit Albion's new owner Guochuan Lai. Since acquiring the club from Jeremy Pearce in 2016, Mr Lai has been scrutinized. He refused to pay back a £5 million loan that was owed to one of his companies in June 2021 and has been unable to provide any investment outside of television money, despite borrowing.

West Bromwich Albion has signed Andreas Weimann on loan from Bristol City, a long-term contract that will see Taylor Gardner-Hickman go the other way on a permanent transfer. Since joining Bristol City in 2018, Austrian Weimann, 32, has scored more than 50 goals, and Carlos Corberan hopes that his experience and goal threat will give his Albion team an edge in their pursuit of promotion. Gardner-Hickman, a versatile defender on loan from West Brom at Ashton Gate this season, has appeared in 23 games, and has appeared in their FA Cup match against West Ham.

Middlesbrough Town FC has taken to Twitter after their striker Chuba Akpom was racially insulted. Boro's Championship match with Bristol City on Saturday ended 1-1, which was a disgraceful occurrence. After Andreas Weimann had opened the scoring, former Arsenal striker Akpom had equalized for Michael Carrick's side.
