Anar Rasul Rzayev (Azerbaijani: Anar R.sul oglu Rzayev), also known as Anar (born 14 March 1938, Baku), is Anar R.ev, Anar R.sul oglu Rzayev, writer, dramatist, film director, and Chairman of the Writers' Union of Azerbaijan.

Early years
Anar was born into the descendants of Azerbaijani poets Rasul Rza (1910-1981) and Nigar Rafibeyli (1913-1981). He joined the Baku State University's Philology Department after completing a 10-year music school in Baku. In Moscow, he later completed courses on screenwriting and production.
