Allie Brosh (born 1985) is an American blogger, writer, and comedian best known for her webcomic Hyperbole and a Half.
Early life
Brosh was raised in small towns, first in Auburn, California, and later near Sandpoint, Idaho, where she says she was "a little bit odder." Brosh wanted to be an author from age eight and said, "It was this epic monstrosity that filled three whole notebooks." This guy fought it" was all I could think of.
She earned her bachelor's degree in human biology at the University of Montana, where she also performed well in track. Brosh has ADHD, which she says was more prevalent when she was a child.
Personal life
Brosh and her partner, Duncan, lived in Bend, Oregon, as of 2013. She married Duncan in December 2012 after being together for about eight years before that. Brosh wrote about Reddit in June 2020, saying she had divorced, then remarried, and that after moving around several states, she was living in Bend again. Kaitlin, Brosh's younger sister, who suffered from bipolar disorder, died in 2013. Brosh referred to her sister's death as a suicide. In 2013, Brosh underwent major surgery for stage IV endometriosis.
Brosh has said that she "lives like a recluse." Brosh has been on Reddit for the past few years, and she has expressed her delight in it because it was the place where her first posts became famous. "I have been trying to make myself more responsible," she said when asked if she felt a duty to inform readers of their health. When I need to, there's a portion of me that wishes that I could fully disappear and fade back into the mists. But I know that this is not how reality works. I'm trying not to disappear for as long as possible, or as completely as well."
